BATTLE (High HP and High Ability stats):
Send these individudals to assist in battles during expeditions. They are also invaluable to have during your trek in the Bottomless Chasm dungeon.
WORK:
These characters serve as your primary work force. They typically have low stats in just about everything else although a few may have decent values in other categories too.
EXPLORATION:
Explorer types are kind of mixed bunch; some have average Health and mediocre Ability and Work stats while others oddly excel in Ability but have low Health. There are also a select few with high Health and high Ability as well. Since there's such a variety among this type, my cut-off for the stat value will be 50.
For everyone else not categorized, they are mostly ones with high Ability, low Health and decent Exploration. Their Work stat may range from dismal to decent as well. Not quite sure what they're good for but I suppose it might all right to use them as support (ranged fighters or healers) in battles early on in the game.
Characters not included since I never invited them to my planet so I never levelled them to see the trends in their stats:

- Lana Torres (looks to be a fighter/someone to use in battle)
- Yasha Tar (looks to be just someone with high ability. Everything else looks kind of low.
TIPS:
- Caves and holes can lead to rewards as well as danger, so make sure your Away Team is always well equipped.
- Level up your people whenever possible, as this improves their ability to farm, fight, and explore.
- Certain structures have increased effectiveness when placed alongside others, so locate them wisely.
